UK Search Engine Optimization Company Hobo Updates Free SEO Guide

UK Search engine optimization company Hobo Web have updated their beginner guide to SEO. Still free to use online, it's been updated with links to the best free SEO tools on the web, as well as introducing a few new topics to the guide. The SEO guide was well received by the SEO community when published last month, with even a Google employee giving it a 'thumbs up' on Sphinn, the social media platform for search engine marketers. 

The guide is a pretty comprehensive introduction to SEO, with links to some of the most popular seo blogs and seo tools. It encompasses a start point for just about everything you need to know about search engine optimisation for Google in 2009, discussing the importance of domain authority and trust in 2009 when it comes to ranking well in Google. The guide offers clear advice on how to optimise individual elements on your website, where to start looking for those important 'authority' links, and perhaps even more importantly... what not to do! 

A few onsite tips to take away from the Hobo search engine optimisation guide include:

  • Google displays 70 characters in a title tag, so keep page titles under 70 characters
  • Google will display around 160 characters on popular keyword searches - though it's widely considered the meta description has a very low impact with regards to your actual rankings
  • Keep links to within 55 characters - Google may not count more than this
  • Keyword density is considered by many to be a myth
  • Pages with high Pagerank scores don't necessarily outperform lower PR pages
