Monetizing Twitter

This is perhaps on everybody's mind including those at Twitter.com

This is perhaps on everybody's mind including those at Twitter.com.

A whole lot of programs have sprouted to get into this anticipated market although monetizing model itself has not materialized.

Some of the more popular programs that I have come across are TweetDeck,Tweetie, Seesmic, Twitpic, Hootsuite etc. While some run on browsers others are using Adobe Air.

This site gives a list of Twitter programs (Jan 2009) that you can find on the internet.

With the popularity of twitter rising the security concerns have been increasingly talked about. Some believe it brings in serious security problems (see for example, InformationWeek.com,

Jun 22, 2009, Page 56) to quote" Twitter presents a perfect vector for malicious code....".

Most of the above mentioned programs are relying on the Twitter API in one way or another and recently I published an article on SSWUG.ORG where SQL Server Reporting services is used

to generate reports using Twitter API.

Tweets with Reporting Services

SQL Server Reporting Services is a secure application which is integrated with Microsoft's SQL Server. It is also a robust service that is one stop for all reporting activities (see author's self learning book).

I believe that for enterprises that use Microsoft t Technology, it will be rewarding to use SQL Server Reporting Services.  When the enterprises plan on using some of the recent social networking programs instead of using one of available free or near-free applications they should leverage the Reporting Services. It is tightly integrated with SQL Server and security issues are reliably addressed.
